Matthew 28:1 The Sabbath day was over. It was Sunday morning just before the sun came up. Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb.
Matthew 28:2 An angel of the Lord came down from heaven and there was a big earthquake. The angel went to the tomb, and he rolled the stone away and sat on the stone.
Matthew 28:3 The angel looked as bright as lightning and his clothes were as white as snow.
Matthew 28:4 The soldiers who guarded the tomb were afraid. They trembled and became like dead men.
Matthew 28:5 The angel said to the women: Do not be afraid. I know you are looking for Jesus who was crucified.
Matthew 28:6 Angel said Jesus is not here. Jesus is alive again. Jesus said He would live again. Come and look. Here is the place where his body was lying.
Matthew 28:7 Go quickly and tell Jesus disciples that Jesus lives again. Tell them Jesus is going to Galilee and they must also go there. They will see Jesus there. This is what I came to tell you.
Matthew 28:8 Mary Magdalene and the other Mary left the tomb quickly. They were afraid, but they were also very happy. They ran away from the tomb to tell Jesus disciples.
Matthew 28:9 Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were running when Jesus stood before them, and Jesus greeted them. Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to Jesus. They knelt before Him and touched Jesus’ feet and worshipped Him.
Matthew 28:10 Then Jesus said to Mary Magdalene and the other Mary: Do not be afraid. Go and tell my disciples to go to Galilee. They will see Me there.
Matthew 28:11 Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went away from the tomb, and the soldiers who had guarded the tomb went to Jerusalem. The soldiers told the chief priests everything that had happened at the tomb.
Matthew 28:12 Then the chief priests met with the older Jewish leaders came together and they made plans. They gave a lot of money to the soldiers.
Matthew 28:13 The chief priests and the older Jewish leaders told the soldiers: You must tell the people that the disciples of Jesus came in the night to steal his body while you were sleeping.
Matthew 28:14 If the governor hears about this, we will talk to the governor and keep you soldiers out of trouble.
Matthew 28:15 The soldiers then took the money, and they did what the chief priest and Jewish leaders had told them to do. The Jews still believe that this is what happened.
Matthew 28:16 The 11 disciples went to the land of Galilee. Jesus had told the disciples to go to a mountain.
Matthew 28:17 When the disciples saw Jesus, they knelt before Jesus and worshipped Him. But some of the disciples doubted if it was Jesus.
Matthew 28:18 Jesus came to the disciples and said to them: All authority in heaven and on earth is given to me.
Matthew 28:19 Do and make followers of all people in the world. Baptize them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit
Matthew 28:20 Teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. And I will be with you always, to the end of the world.
