John Chapter 9

John 9:1 Jesus walked on and Jesus saw a blind man. The blind man had been blind from the day that he was born.

John 9:2 The disciples asked Jesus: Master, why was this man born blind? Whose fault was it? Was it the blind man who sinned or was it his father or mother who sinned?

John 9:3 Jesus answered, “It was not any sin of this man or his parents that caused him to be blind. He was born blind so that he could be used to show what great things God can do.

John 9:4 While it is daytime, we must continue doing the work of the one who sent me. The night is coming, and no one can work at night

John 9:5 While I am with the people in the world, I am the light for the people.

John 9:6 After Jesus said this, he spit on the dirt, made some mud and put it on the man’s eyes.

John 9:7 Jesus said to him:  Go and wash your eyes in the Siloam Pool. (The name Siloam means ‘God has sent someone.) The blind man went, and he washed himself. When he came back, he could see.

John 9:8 Blind man’s neighbors and some others who had seen him blind man, Is this the same man who was a beggar?

John 9:9 Some people said:  Yes, it is he.  Other people said:  No, it is someone else who looks like the blind man.  Then the blind man said: Yes, it is I.

John 9:10 The people asked the once blind man:  What happened that you can see now?

John 9: 11 The once blind man said:  A Man whose name is Jesus made mud and Jesus put it on my eyes.  Then Jesus told me to go to the Siloam Pool and wash it off. I did what Jesus said and then I could see.

John 9: 12 They asked the once blind man: Where is that Man?  The one blind man said:  I don’t know.

John 9:13 The people took the man who had been blind to the Pharisees

John 9:14 It was on a Sabbath day when Jesus made the clay and healed the blind man.

John 9:15 So the Pharisees asked the man who once was blind again, How did you get your sight? The once blind man answered, Jesus put clay on my eyes. I washed, and now I can see.

John 9:16 Some Pharisees said: This Man does not come from God because He works on the Sabbath day.  Other Pharisees said: Any person who does miracles like this cannot be a sinner.’ The Pharisees argued with each other.

John 9:17 Then the Pharisees asked the man who had been blind:  What do you think of the Man who healed your eyes? The man who had been blind said: I think He is a prophet.

John 9:18 The Jewish leaders did not want to believe that the man had been blind and that he now could see. Then they called the parents of the man who could now see

John 9:19 and the Jewish leaders asked blind man’s parents: Is this man your son? Is it true that he was blind when he was born? Why can he now see?

John 9:20 The blind man’s parents said: ‘We know that he is our son. We know he was blind when he was born.

John 9:21 But we don’t know why he can see now. We don’t know who healed his eyes. Ask him. He is old enough to answer for himself

John 9:22 The man’s parents said this because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. The leaders had already said that if someone said he believed that Jesus was the Christ, then that person could never again go into the synagogue.

John 9:23 That is why his parents said, He is old enough. Ask him.

John 9:24 The Jewish leaders called the man who had been blind again and they said to him:  Promise and say God is your Witness and speak the truth. We know that this Man is a sinner.

John 9:25 The once blind man said: ‘I do not know if this man is a sinner, but I know that I was blind and now I can see.

John 9:26 The Jewish leaders asked the once blind man: What did Jesus do for you? How did He heal your eyes?

John 9:27 The man said to them: I have already told you but you did not listen. Why do you want me to tell it again?  Do you also want to become disciples of Jesus?

John 9:28 The Jewishd leaders became angry and said: You are a disciple of that Man. We are disciples of Moses

John 9:29 We know that God spoke to Moses, but we don’t know where this Man comes from.

John 9:30 The man who had been blind said to them: This is really strange! You don’t know where he comes from, but he healed my eyes.

John 9:31We know that God does not listen to sinners. God listens to people who serve Him and do what He wants

John 9:32 This is the first time we have ever heard of anyone healing the eyes of someone born blind.

John 9:33 This man must be from God. If he were not from God, he could not do anything like this

John 9:34 Then the Jews said to the man who was blind: You have been a sinner from the day that you were born. You cannot teach us. You may never come back into the synagogue.

John 9:35 They told Jesus that the Jewish leaders had said the man who had been blind could never go into the synagogue again. Jesus found him and asked him, Do you believe in the Son of God?

John 9:36The once blind man said: ‘Sir, please tell me who the Son of God is, so that I can believe in Him.

John 9:37 Jesus said to once blind man,  You have already seen him. The Son of God is the one talking with you now.

John 9:38 The once blind man said: I believe, Lord. And he worshipped Jesus.

John 9:38 The once blind man answered, Yes, I believe, Lord! Then he bowed and worshiped Jesus.

John 9:39 Jesus said,  I came into this world so that the world could be judged. I came so that people who are blind could see. And I came so that people who think they see would become blind.

John 9:40 Some of the Pharisees who were near Jesus heard this. They said: What? Are you saying that we are blind too?
