Old Testament

Psalms 58

Do you speak righteousness, you silent ones? Do you judge uprightly, you sons of men?

No, you only think of evil things to do. You do violent crimes in this country.

Those wicked people started doing wrong as soon as they were born. They have been liars from birth.

Their anger is as deadly as the poison of a snake. They shut their ears like a deaf adder

The deaf adder does not listen to the music of the snake charmers, no matter how well they play.

O God, break the teeth in the mouths of those sinners. Lord, pull out the sharp teeth of those lions.

Let them disappear like water that flows away into the ground. When they want to shoot their arrows, let them miss and fail.

Let them be like snail that melt and disappear on the road when they move. Let them be like a child who dies before he is born, who never sees the sun. Psalm 58: 9 The Lord will make them disappear faster than thorn bushes that burn under a pot of water, where even the green branches burn out quickly.

People who live in the right way will be very happy when they see how the Lord punishes those who do wrong. They will wash their feet in the blood of the sinners.

Then people will say: Surely, the Lord rewards people who are righteous. There really is a God who judges all the people on earth.
