Old Testament
Psalms 51
O God, please have mercy on me. You are faithful and always love us. You are always merciful. Because of your great love, erase all the wrongs I have done.
Wash away all my sins and clean me from my sin.
I know I have done wrong: and I remember my sin all the time.
I have sinned against You, only against You, and I did what You hate. You were right and fair when You said that I am guilty. You did not make a mistake when You judged me.
When I came into this world, I was full of sin. I was a sinner before I was born.
You want me to faithful to you deep in my heart and mind. So put true wisdom deep inside of me.
Remove my sin and make me pure. Wash me until I am whiter than snow.
Don’t look at my sins. Erase all my sins.
O God, please give me a clean mind, and make my spirit faithful to You.
Don’t send me away from You or take your Holy Spirit away from me.
Make me as happy as You did when You saved me. Let your spirit strengthen me
I will teach the guilty how you want them to live, and the sinners will come back to you.
O God, save me from the guilt of murdering someone. You are my Saviour. I will sing and tell everyone that You are good and righteous.
My Lord, I will open my mouth and sing your praises!
Sacrificing offerings or burnt offerings is not what you desire. If that was want you wanted, I would give it.
The sacrifice that God wants is a humble spirit. God, you will not turn away someone who comes with a humble and broken heart and is willing to obey you.
Please be good to Zion again. Build the walls of Jerusalem and make the city strong again.
Then you can enjoy the kind of sacrifices you want. You will receive whole burnt offerings, and people will again offer bulls on your altar.
