Psalms 2

1Why do the nations rage, and the peoples plot in vain?

2The kings of the earth take their stand, and the rulers plot together, against the LORD and against the LORD's anointed one, saying:

3Let us break their chains apart and throw off their ropes.

4The LORD who sits in heaven laughs; the LORD mocks them.

5Then the LORD speaks to them in anger and terrifies them in fury, saying:

6I myself have installed my king on Zion, my holy hill.

7I will announce the LORD's decree: The LORD said to me: You are my Son; today I have become your Father.

8Ask me, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance, the ends of the earth as your possession.

9You will break them with an iron rod; you will shatter them like a piece of pottery.

10So now, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth.

11Serve the LORD with reverence, and rejoice with trembling.

12Kiss the Son, or the Son will become angry and you will be destroyed on your way, because the Son's wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in the Son.
