Proverbs 10

1These are the proverbs of Solomon. A wise son makes his father glad, but a foolish son brings sorrow to his mother.

2Treasures gained by wickedness do not profit anyone, but doing what is right saves you from death.

3The LORD does not let the righteous go hungry, but the LORD refuses to satisfy the desires of the wicked.

4Lazy hands make a person poor, but hard-working hands bring wealth.

5Whoever gathers crops in summer is a wise child, but whoever sleeps during harvest is a child who brings shame.

6Blessings crown the head of the righteous, but violence fills the mouth of the wicked.

7The memory of the righteous is a blessing, but the name of the wicked will rot away.

8The wise in heart accept commands, but a foolish chatterer will fall.

9Whoever walks with integrity walks safely, but whoever twists their ways will be found out.

10Whoever winks slyly causes trouble, and a foolish chatterer will fall.

11The mouth of a righteous person is a fountain of life, but violence fills the mouth of the wicked.

12Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over every wrong.

13Wisdom is found on the lips of someone with understanding, but a rod is for the back of someone with no sense.

14Wise people store up knowledge, but the mouth of a fool invites disaster.

15The wealth of the rich is their strong city; the poverty of the poor is their ruin.

16What the righteous earn leads to life; what the wicked gain leads to sin.

17Whoever accepts correction is on the path to life, but whoever ignores correction leads others astray.

18Whoever hides hatred with lying lips, and whoever spreads slander, is a fool.

19Too many words always lead to sin, but whoever controls their lips is wise.

20The tongue of the righteous is like choice silver; the heart of the wicked is worth very little.

21The lips of the righteous nourish many, but fools die for lack of sense.

22The LORD's blessing makes a person rich, and the LORD adds no trouble along with it.

23A fool finds pleasure in doing wrong, but a person with understanding finds pleasure in wisdom.

24What the wicked fear will happen to them, but what the righteous desire will be granted.

25When a storm sweeps through, the wicked are gone, but the righteous stand firm forever.

26As vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, so is a lazy person to those who send him on an errand.

27Respecting the LORD adds years to your life, but the years of the wicked will be cut short.

28The hope of the righteous brings joy, but the expectation of the wicked comes to nothing.

29The way of the LORD is a stronghold for honest people, but it brings ruin to those who do wrong.

30The righteous will never be uprooted, but the wicked will not remain in the land.

31The mouth of the righteous produces wisdom, but a dishonest tongue will be cut out.

32The lips of the righteous know what is right to say, but the mouth of the wicked speaks only dishonesty.
