New Testament
John 14
Don't let your hearts be worried. You believe in God; believe in me also.
There are many rooms in my Father's house. If it were not true, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.
And after I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me, so that you can be where I am.
You know the way to the place where I am going.
Thomas said to Jesus: Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?
Jesus said to Thomas: I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
If you really knew me, you would know my Father too. From now on you do know him, and you have seen him.
Philip said to Jesus: Lord, show us the Father. That is all we need.
Jesus said to Philip: Philip, I have been with you such a long time. Don't you know me yet? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. So how can you say, Show us the Father?
Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in me? The words I say to you do not come from me alone. The Father, who lives in me, is doing the Father's work through me.
Believe me when I say that I am in the Father, and the Father is in me. Or at least believe because of the works themselves.
I tell you the truth: anyone who believes in me will do the same works I do. That person will do even greater works than these, because I am going to the Father.
And I will do anything you ask in my name, so that the Father will be honored through the Son.
If you ask me for anything in my name, I will do it.
If you love me, you will obey my commands.
And I will ask the Father, and the Father will give you another Helper to be with you forever.
This is the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept the Spirit, because the world does not see the Spirit or know the Spirit. But you know the Spirit, because the Spirit lives with you and will be in you.
I will not leave you all alone. I will come to you.
Soon the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you will live too.
On that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.
Whoever has my commands and obeys them loves me, and my Father will love that believer. I will love that believer too, and show that believer who I am.
Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said: Lord, why will you show yourself to us, and not to the world?
Jesus answered: Whoever loves me will obey my word, and my Father will love that person. We will come to that person and make our home there.
Anyone who does not love me does not obey my words. And these words you hear are not my own; they come from the Father who sent me.
I have told you all this while I am still with you.
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things. The Holy Spirit will remind you of everything I have told you.
I leave you peace. My own peace I give to you. I do not give to you the way the world gives. So don't let your hearts be worried, and don't be afraid.
You heard me say: I am going away, and I will come back to you. If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, because the Father is greater than I am.
I have told you now, before it happens, so that when it does happen, you will believe.
I will not talk with you much longer, because the ruler of this world is coming. That ruler has no power over me.
But the world must know that I love the Father and that I do exactly what the Father has commanded me. Come now, let us go.
