Genesis 6

1The number of people on earth continued to increase, and these people had daughters.

2Some of the angels saw that these daughters were beautiful, and they married the daughters that they wanted.

3Then the LORD said, My Spirit will not struggle with humans forever, because humans are flesh. Humans will live only 120 years.

4In that time there were giants on earth. The giants were the children of the angels who had married the people's daughters. The giants were very strong soldiers, and everyone knew about them.

5The LORD saw that the people on the earth were very evil. The LORD saw that people thought only about evil things all the time.

6The LORD was sorry that the LORD had made people on the earth. It made the LORD very sad.

7So the Lord said, I will destroy all the people I created on the earth. I will destroy every person and every animal and everything that crawls on the earth. And I will destroy all the birds in the air, because I am sorry that I have made them.

8But Noah pleased the Lord.

9This is the history of Noah's family. Noah was the only blameless and righteous man of his time. Noah walked with God.

10Noah had three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

11The earth was corrupt in God's sight, and the earth was filled with violence.

12God looked at the earth and saw that it was corrupt, because all people had corrupted their ways on the earth.

13God said to Noah, The end of all living things has come. I have decided to destroy them, because the earth is filled with violence through them. I will destroy them along with the earth.

14God told Noah, use gopher wood to build an ark. You must build rooms in the ark and put tar over the wood on the inside and the outside

15This is the size I want you to make the boat: 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide, and 30 cubits high.

16Build a roof over the ark. Make openings like windows of 1 cubit between the roof and the sides. You must put a door on one side and make 3 floors on top of each other, a bottom floor, a middle floor and a top floor.

17Understand what I am telling you. I will bring a great flood of water on the earth. I will destroy all living things that live under heaven. Everything on the earth will die.

18I will make a special agreement with you. You, your wife, your sons, and their wives will all go into the boat.

19Also, you will take two of every living thing on the earth with you into the boat. Take a male and female of every kind of animal so that they might survive with you.

20Two of every kind of bird, animal, and creeping thing will come to you so that you might keep them alive.

21Also bring every kind of food into the boat, for you and for the animals.

22Noah did everything exactly as God had commanded.
